The bodies of two minor girls from the Bhil community were found in the main canal of the Narmada river in the Sanchor area of Jalore district on Wednesday morning. The girls had been missing since Monday night. Police reached the spot and sent the bodies to the hospital. Meanwhile, many people from the Bhil community gathered outside the hospital.

The uncle of the minor girls filed a complaint at the police station stating that his 17-year-old and 16-year-old nieces were sleeping in their room on Monday night when the accused Suresh Kumar, son of Surta Ram, a resident of Chitlawana, came to their house. He distracted and took them away on his motorcycle to a jungle area with accomplices Anil Kumar and Devararam Vishnoi.

The uncle informed that when the family members woke up at night, they could not find the girls at home. They searched for them but could not find any information. The villagers then reached the Panchayat Bhavan where they met Suresh Kumar. When questioned strictly, he revealed that he had handed over the two girls to Anil and Devararam. The villagers then handed over the youth to the police, and the search for the girls began.

The bodies of the girls were later found in the canal, and the police sent them for a post-mortem examination. The cause of death has not been confirmed yet. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of minor girls in rural areas and the protection of vulnerable communities. The police and the authorities need to take strict action to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future and the culprits are brought to justice.
