From Aviation to Music: The Career Shift of Anjali Rathore

Anjali Rathore spent years as a business sales manager in the aviation and travel sector before leaving the industry to pursue music full-time, a transition she describes as moving from a conventional career toward what she calls her life's purpose.

Rathore, a vocalist who performs ghazals, retro Bollywood numbers, and devotional music, is the founder of Bhaav Bharat Global Events Pvt. Ltd., a company she says is focused on promoting Indian classical music alongside yoga and meditation-based wellness experiences.

Early Years

According to Rathore, she began singing at the age of nine and pursued music through her school and college years, performing original compositions and reciting Sanskrit mantras and verses, as well as portions of the Ramcharitmanas. At a time when music was not widely treated as a mainstream career, she chose to study Travel and Tourism Management instead.

A Corporate Career

Rathore went on to work with companies including MakeMyTrip, Air Mauritius, Azerbaijan Airlines, and Air Arabia, rising to the position of business sales manager. She continued training in Indian classical music throughout this period, initially at formal institutions and later under vocalist Shashwati Mandal, whom she names as her guru.

The Shift to Music Full-Time

After nearly a decade of vocal training, Rathore left her corporate role to focus on music. She subsequently trained as a yoga and meditation coach in Rishikesh, and says she uses music as a tool to support mental well-being.

"Music is not just an art, but a way of life," Rathore has said of her approach, describing her performances as immersive experiences intended to be calming and uplifting.

'Bhajan Clubbing' and Current Work

Rathore is associated with a format she calls "Bhajan Clubbing," which she describes as a fusion of devotional music with contemporary soundscapes. Her current work spans weddings and private celebrations, corporate and lifestyle events, and spiritual and wellness gatherings, performing across folk, Sufi, retro Bollywood, and bhajan repertoires.

Through Bhaav Bharat Global Events, Rathore says she aims to create performances that combine music and wellness. Whether the venture's stated focus on holistic well-being through music produces measurable outcomes is not independently established.
